Jenny Robinson, MD, MPHTM, PhD
Jenny Robinson, MD, MPHTM has lived in a lot of places. She grew up in southeast Asia and West Africa with her Foreign Service family, after which she moved to Charlottesville, VA for college at the University of Virginia. From there she went to New Orleans, LA where she completed her Medical Degree and Masters in Public Health and Tropical Medicine at Tulane University, then to Drexel University/Hahnemann University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA for residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Dr. Robinson made her way to Baltimore for fellowship training in Family Planning at Johns Hopkins. She enjoyed her time in Baltimore so much that she stayed for another research fellowship in Clinical Pharmacology, finally joining the faculty in the Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics at Johns Hopkins Bayview in 2014. She recently completed her PhD in Clinical Investigation at the Bloomberg School of Public Health.
Dr. Robinson currently serves as the Medical Director of the Hopkins Center for Family Planning, located at the Bayview campus. She is part of the Division of Family Planning which provides complex contraception and abortion services to women from Maryland and neighboring states. She is also the Selective Director for Family Planning as part of the medical school’s Women’s Health Clerkship, and is one of the course directors for the Genes to Society Reproductive Sciences block in the School of Medicine. Her time is divided among providing generalist OB/Gyn care as well as Family Planning care, clinical research, and teaching fellows, residents, and medical students. Dr. Robinson’s research is primarily focused on investigating new contraceptive methods, and early drug development studies of microbicides and multipurpose prevention technologies designed to prevent HIV transmission and unwanted pregnancy.
When not at work, Dr. Robinson enjoys exploring Baltimore (especially the food scene), traveling the world in general, biking, hiking, knitting, rewatching favorite movies, listening to jazz, and reading. She is trying very hard to become a regular bike commuter, and is also working to raise two native Baltimore cats.
